As a high school student, he was fortunate to have the opportunity to travel to Paraguay as part of Team Tobati (http://www.teamtobati.org/), which spurred his interest in international volunteerism. While studying abroad in Buenos Aires, Argentina Kaplan interned at the human and workers’ rights organization La Alameda (http://laalameda.wordpress.com/ and http://laalamedanews.wordpress.com/) solidifying his interest in human rights and desire to further build his community development skills. His experience at La Alameda ultimately was a factor in his decision to join the Peace Corps.
